{"id":522,"date":"2011-09-21T13:57:41","date_gmt":"2011-09-21T13:57:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/scottkandrews.com\/?p=522"},"modified":"2011-09-21T13:57:41","modified_gmt":"2011-09-21T13:57:41","slug":"pandemonium","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/scottkandrews.com\/index.php\/2011\/09\/pandemonium\/","title":{"rendered":"Pandemonium"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Those lovely people at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pornokitsch.com\">Pornokitsch<\/a>, Anne and Jared &#8211; I call them The Pornos; they don&#8217;t laugh &#8211; have set up an imprint called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pandemonium-fiction.com\/\">Pandemonium Fiction<\/a> to publish short story collections. The first, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pornokitsch.com\/pandemonium\/apocalypse.html\">Stories of the Apocalypse<\/a>, \u00a0contains original\u00a0tales \u00a0inspired by the art of <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/John_Martin_(painter)\">John Martin<\/a>, and the book will be released in October 2011\u00a0to coincide with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tate.org.uk\/britain\/exhibitions\/johnmartin\/default.shtm\">Tate Gallery&#8217;s new exhibition of his work<\/a>. \u00a0As well as stories by people like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.j-cg.co.uk\/\">Jon Courtenay Grimwood<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/laurenbeukes.com\/\">Lauren Beukes<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sophiamcdougall.com\/\">Sophia McDougall<\/a>\u00a0it contains &#8216;A Private Viewing&#8217;, the first outright horror tale I&#8217;ve written.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;I don&#8217;t really think I believe in redemption.<\/p>\n<p>Punishment, consequences, responsibility; these things I understand. It&#8217;s how I was raised, I\u00a0suppose.<\/p>\n<p>Reformation and rehabilitation, though, baffle me. It surely can&#8217;t be enough to just say sorry for the\u00a0bad things you&#8217;ve done. And anyway, how can you prove you mean those apologies, that you&#8217;re not\u00a0just saying whatever the world wants to hear?<\/p>\n<p>Why should those of us who work hard, keep our heads down, treat our neighbours with respect and\u00a0consideration, be nice to those who aren&#8217;t nice in turn?
